Building the O-Zone
What is Ozone?
Ozone installs antennas at strategic points throughout city neighbourhoods and villages. These antennas emit a Wi-Fi signal. An area that has full coverage is called an O-Zone... These O-Zones can be interconnected to other O-zones and cover a wide area between buildings and streets.
The O-Zones are connected to wireless broadband stations on top of high buildings. These stations are directly connected to the Internet with the same capabilities as other operators or service providers.
You can connect to Ozone using any hardware equipped with Wi-Fi: Your computer or laptop, your Personal Assistant (PDA), your Smart phone like an iPhone or even your portable game console with Wi-Fi and so on.
So? What does it mean for me?
By becoming a member of Ozone, you have broadband Internet access wherever the Ozone signal can be received: at home, outdoors, at your office, with friends. You are always free.
It’s no longer your house that is connected, it’s you.
Of course, in the O-ZONE you don’t pay any subscription fees or telephone communications because you connect through the air and the air is free. You pay a monthly flat rate that gives you unlimited access whatever the place from which you connect within an O-ZONE or you can get it by day or by the hour.
Why is Ozone building this network?
The answers are simple:
We all agree that the known connections to internet like ADSL or cable stay very expensive in Belgium and that technologies like 3G are far to expensive.
With this technology we can use our Wi-Fi enabled devices to connect in many ways from different locations.
You can really benefit by using free applications like Instant messaging, Skype and VOIP to make free phone calls or send free or very cheap SMS connecting trough Wi-Fi.
It’s ideal to keep in touch with your friends and contacts using things like Face book, MSN, My Space and so on.
Of course, we're only at the beginning of this venture. It will take some time before the connectivity of the O-Zones will be accessible to all.
